God’s Word: Focus, “God Made Me.” Memory verse: Psalms 100:3 “The Lord is Good. It is He who made us.” Songs: “God is so Good,” and “If I were a Butterfly.”
Handwriting without Tears: Learn words for making letters: vertical, horizontal, diagonal and curves and circles. Act out “Mat Man” song to figure out what Mat Man is missing. Enjoy “Wood Piece Pokey” and
Where do You Start Your Letters” songs for an introduction to capital letter cards and wood piece use.
Open Court: Unit Theme: School. Class stories: “Hickory, Dickory, Dock,” “Boomer Goes to School” and “Johnny Apple Seed.” The children are going to listen and recognize rhyming words and story sequence to “Boomer Goes to School.” For the writing process, create a picture of their favorite pet or animal they like. Second, take home pre-decodable book goes home with the Kindergarteners for required reading.
History: (Thursday/Friday) Begin Unit on Maps and Globe Skills. Discuss layout of a classroom and its rules, earth and God’s Ten Commandments that guide us. Read “I See a Sign,” rules & signs that guide us in our world.
Jr. K. Math: Begin to sort and classify with shapes, color, and size with Mrs. Henry. Kindergarten Math: This week review sorting rules, use logical reasoning and make a graph by sorting and tasting apples after listening to Johnny Apple Seed; and later, create a “Cool to the Core” math craft. Friday will be a Chapter review test.
Small motor: Color, cut and glue Hickory Dickory Dock rhyme craft, and illustrate self on “I am Cool to the Core” math project. Large motor: Run and play outside, using sand and water tables. Take turns riding the tricycles and big wheels. With music, Smart Moves, enjoy body moves in a group, follow musical movements that instruct us with our wood pieces for Handwriting without Tears.
Kindergarten Science: We finish the 5 senses this week and begin “My Body on the Inside.” Quiz Friday.
Spanish with Ms. Rosa: will be taught Thursday afternoons in Mrs. Henry’s room, 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
