Notes from the Teacher: Thank you all for helping with the Jogathon. If you did not get a chance to sponsor your child for all their amazing laps they accomplished please do. The children did a fantastic job and cheering one another on. Last week’s Lutheran Schools Week was a lot of fun. What glee they had doing relay races with the upper grades and singing together in chapel with Ms Orbison’s family band and Pastor on his drums! The song “Joy, Joy, Joy” was my favorite! * This Wednesday is Saint Patrick’s Day! They will hear of Saint Patrick’s life, do a craft, go on a green clover hunt and enjoy some sugar cookies together.
Letter (Jj) books read: “Just in Case,” “Cat Jumped In” “Julius,” “Grandfather’s Journey” “First He Made the Sun,” and “Joseph had a Little Overcoat.”
Math: For fun, the children will stamp some green clovers using sliced bell peppers and count how many they have. I will read “Mouse Count” and have the children take turns counting how many mice the snakes puts in his jar, counting forwards and backwards as the story comes to a close. We will all get a chance to jump and measure our jumps for the story “Cat Jumped In.”
Small motor: The children will trace letter (Jj), color, cut and glue letter (J) word pictures and make their own letter (J) flip books. As time permits, finish their quilt squares and join everyone’s paper patch work together. Large motor: Run and play outside, using sand and water tables. Take turns riding the tricycles and big wheel. For letter (J), the children will move to music, Jazz Police and Jack be Numble.
God’s Word: The children are finishing up with their troubled water paintings, Jesus walking on the water to help his friends. Also, we will be learning about Saint Patrick, his story of being a slave, his freedom, forgiveness and service going back to Ireland.
Science: We are finishing up with our plant unit, noting seed growth, ideal soil and light. Spanish: Will be held in Jr. K. with Ms. Rosa, Monday at 8:45 -9:15 a.m.
Music: 10:30- 11:00 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings with Jr.K through 2nd grade. We will make craft props for our upcoming songs, starting Tuesday.
