Third and Fourth Grade Biography Book Report
- Each student must read a biography, the true story of a person’s life. A chapter book is required, and your child may choose a title from the school library, classroom shelf, home collection, or the public library. I will need to approve the book.
- The report consists of two parts. Part I is due Tuesday, March 2. After reading the book, a time line will be made of the person’s life, showing at least seven important highlights. Use construction paper or poster board for this part of the project. Accurate information, neatness, and correct spelling are required for full credit. Also, don’t forget to include the title of the biography, author, and your own name.
- Part II is due Friday, March 5, and will be an oral presentation. Each student will dress up and/or use a few props to act like his/her person. Please practice at home and come prepared to tell about your (person’s) life and why you are considered famous. These reports will be shared again on Wednesday, March 10, during Lutheran Schools Week. Parents are invited to attend. (The exact time will be announced as we get closer to the presentation date.) Please use the following outline when preparing the oral report:
My name is __________________(name of your person). I was born on________(date) in________________________(place). Listen as I tell about the important events of my life. ________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________
Use the time line information to practice telling the events in order. If possible, memorize the facts and only use the time line for a backup resource in case you forget something you want to say. Make sure that you stay in character and use the pronoun ‘I’ instead of ‘he’ or ‘she’.
